Weddings have changed so greatly over the past two decades. Brides wear colors other than stark white. Gowns even add blues, pinks, violets and sometimes all the colors of the rainbow. Bridesmaid’s gowns don’t have to match. Couples are opting for destination weddings. And the infamous bridal favor which until 20 years ago was toile wrapped candy covered almonds has been completely transformed. And years ago, those were thought of as inexpensive wedding favors.

Recently I’ve notice a trend regarding wedding favors. Much like bridesmaids dresses being mismatched, now what seems chic, is Wedding Favor Trios. A Wedding Favor Trio is three different favors with a similar theme. For example, if the bride loves sewing, then for the Bridal Shower, the favor is three different items related to sewing with the same pattern on them as well as coordinated colors. Or perhaps there is a “love” theme for the Bridal shower and wedding. Maybe even a beach theme for those that love the ocean. Today, there are so many favors that are put into trios, that you have your choice. You could even put 3 different candle wedding favors together.

Some people are taken back a bit. For them, the traditional wedding favor is perfect. But after having attended a wedding recently which had Wedding Favor Trios on the guest’s tables, I’ve changed my mind.

What I’ve come to appreciate about these little gems is they become part of the décor of the wedding. In the past, wedding favors were an after-thought; something that you had to purchase, but always as a last minute item. With these trios, favors have come to a place of greater visibility. And with any of these trios, you can include wine wedding favors which would really add a unique touch to your wedding.

Unlike years ago when you knew what you probably were going to end up with for your gift, today things are different. Many people still cover up their favor in a box with a pretty bow. But most do not. Again, it’s totally up to the individual, but in my opinion, the favors of today, especially themed favors, should be included as part of the wedding décor package.

Over the next couple of years, you will notice more and more trios of wedding favors on your table when you attend a wedding. They are fun and colorful and add so much to the guest’s table. The only downside is you and the other guests may argue over who gets what favor. There’s always something isn’t there?

If you’re planning a wedding you know that the biggest part of a wedding budget is covering the wedding venue and reception. But what if there was a way around that? What if you could have an awesome wedding at a fraction of what the reception would cost you? Then read on.

Outdoor weddings have been some of the most beautiful weddings I’ve ever been to. And of course, depending on the surroundings, this outdoor venue can add a touch that you just cannot capture when inside a venue right down to the unique wedding favors that you can use. But how is this possible? And, can it really save money?

First of all, this is very possible and can save you a lot of money. But there is a question that must be asked. Do you have a backyard area that is appropriate for the size wedding you desire? If you really desire an outdoor wedding, there are some guidelines that you must follow. You have to have decided on a time of year that it is best to have this outdoor event. If you live in California, you’re probably safe from rain most of the year except for February and March. Just remember that even there, in the middle of the summer, the nights get very chilly, so you may want to rent heaters. If you live in the northeast, then you are aware that you can’t have a winter wedding favors (even if you love the holiday decorations and those winter wedding favors!) and have a tent ready in case of rain (read below). So, depending on where you live, what the temperatures are during that time and if it’s a rainy season, you have to plan accordingly and appropriately.

Many wise people will opt to tent the area so as to insure that if there is rain, the wedding is not ruined. I would suggest that also, but with one added remark. If you decide on an evening or night wedding, only rent a small tent for the food and drink area. Truly, nothing is more beautiful than sitting under the stars on a warm, summer night. And if you do your wedding in the autumn, the colors of nature add a decoration without any added money. You then theme around fall wedding favors right down to your fall wedding favors, and voila; just breath-taking! You just cannot buy the beauty this affords and makes the most beautiful addition to your wedding! But, when you speak to the rental company about tables, chairs, etc, have another one on hold, just in case it says there will be rain.

Now, and this is probably the greatest point to having a backyard wedding; because you are in total control of your reception, you can choose a caterer to fit your needs and budget. With an outdoor wedding, you can go as simple or as extravagant as you wish or as informal or formal as you want to make it or can afford. I’ve been to afternoon, backyard weddings which were catered with hotdogs and hamburgers, roasted marshmallows, etc. Yes, many people opt for that kind of wedding. And honestly, I never had so much fun. Yet, I’ve consulted on outdoor weddings where they have been the most extravagant; beautiful cloth tablecloths, extravagant flowers, china, crystal, etc. What is wonderful about the entire idea is that you are in total control. And it really saves so much money and aggravation. So if this is even a possibility for you and you love the idea, look into it. It may just be the ideal wedding for you and your pocketbook!

You’ve heard about these type of weddings but you don’t understand exactly what it is. It’s when an engaged couple decide that they do not want to be very involved in putting together their special day. So, they call the unique wedding planners that specialize in All Inclusive Weddings, which basically is a wedding where everything is included and the couple chooses from several different packages of venues and products. On the surface, this can seem so perfect; even appear to save you money. But over many years, my experience has shown me – Buyer Beware!

Initially what this type of planner asks is about how much the couple wants to spend on their wedding. That figure includes everything except the rings, gown, honeymoon and your wedding favors. They also will ask how many guests will be at the reception. Be careful here. If you guarantee 150 guests and 120 show up, you’re still going to pay for 150 guests! And considering that up to 10% of guests don’t show up on your wedding day as it is, you are paying for lots of empty chairs!

When you get involved with an All Inclusive Wedding, there usually are several venues to choose from. More than likely you will visit each of them and then choose which one is the best for your particular wedding. Now you’re getting excited…but beware…this is when it begins.

After choosing the venue that you absolutely love and you start to make decisions with the wedding planner, the cost/product/venue breakdown is then sent to the future bride and groom. The budget is exactly figured to the amount the couple told the planner that they can spend, but there are usually some issues. This All Inclusive Wedding was to include everything but for the exceptions. Included was the cocktail hour, dinner, band, flowers, photography, videography, invitations, wedding favors, limos, etc. all for the budgeted amount and still it did not include any unique wedding favors.

Well, do you know what usually happens when the couple receives their specific breakdown? There are omissions everywhere. This is normally shocking, but now you are involved and don’t want to start again, so you speak to the planner and try to negotiate. How do you stop this from happening? When you are in the process of planning an All Inclusive Wedding, right from the beginning you have to have in writing what is included for the price you gave them. And yes, they are very good at making things fit your budget, but then you end up eliminating some things that are important to you. For example, there are only 3 members in the band, there is no appetizer at dinner, very slim amount of flowers, a Town Car not a limo, etc. I remember one wedding where they asked the planner to just throw in some cheap wedding favors and she wouldn’t even do that!

My advice to you, is to be very careful when using this type of planner. Better yet, work with someone you know, or do it yourself and get the aid of a planning consultant that will help you in areas such as buying products from you at wholesale. Unless cost is not a problem for you, you want to be very careful when you bump into this type of planner. Remember, don’t jump into anything too quickly. Search for the best deal with your budget and with those you want to work with. The term All Inclusive Wedding many times can mean nothing more than adding a middle man, which is going to cost you more money in the end.
